A DREAM OF LIBERATION
PHOTOGRAPHY: STYLE & STRATEGY
Concerning the photography, the idea is to focus on documenting the different aspects of the journey, the stories of the people we will encounter and at the same time give a feeling of the places where they used to be stationed. Given place to the imagination of the viewer to recall what happened and/or is still happening in those places. Using different technics to express this journey.
On one side profesionnal digital photography to capture some of the important elements of the trip (people and places, stories), and strong portraits. Using special technics for landscape photography, (panorama,360degrees photography) to give a sense of the places (the battlefields were the fighting use to happen), the different strategic locations, the different places along the way... And using an anolog camera, the same camera as Che did, during that period, rangefinder Nikon 35mm 1965, as to document the journey itself.
In General, the aim will be to shoot more freely than on assignment, giving room for personal and experimental work, and by keeping at all times the journalistic values of respect of the different subjects. The end product of this Photographic project will be a book and a grand travelling photo exhibition.
CAPTION: One of the coltan diggers is coming out of the mine. They have only a lamp and basic tools. They go extremely deep, often between 15 and 20 meters and it becomes very hard to breath. Mining is very dangerous and there is limited medical aid in the event of accidents. Foto: Jan-Joseph Stok BLOOD MOBILES SERIES
